ABOUT US

The Confederation of the Persons with Disabilities was founded in 2006 in Ankara, Turkey, by The Federation of the Blind, The Federation of the Mental Disability and the Federation of the Disabled.

The Confederation has being struggling with the human rights perspective to improve and strengthen the human rights of the persons with disabilities since its foundation. It has been a Pioneer of the disability movement in Turkey. Every year, it has expanded its advocacy activities, diversified its advocacy tools, in order to support persons with disabilities and increase their participation in decision-making process in many sectors includig employment, health, education etc. The Confederation is today still a bridge between public sector, legislators and civil society with the demands of independent living and accessibility.

The Confederation of the Persons with Disabilities, which negotiates with public institutions to improve the disability rights to promote social and economic improvement and to establish networks with local, national and international disablity organizations. It also promotes the effective use of international human rights mechanisms beginning with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The Confederation is located in Ankara thea capital of Turkey.

WE ARE A BIG FAMILY WITH TEN THOUSANDS OF MEMBERS WITH DISABILITIES!

The Confederation of the Persons with Disabilities currently consists of six federations and tens of associations and hundreds of members with disabilities. Member federations include:

CAMPAIGNS & PROJECTS

The Confederation of Persons with Disabilities has carried out various activities, especially on the basis of advocacy, organization and education since its establishment. The confederation, which carries out campaigns and projects with an equal and accessible life philosophy for the disabled, continues its activities that touch the lives of the disabled by cooperating with many institutions and organizations in the field of human rights of the disabled.
